Kelly,
Your brother Brian was a very special part of my life. We met many years ago when we were both patients at Palos Hospital. He lived with me for a short while; and we became the best of friends. Brian told me that we met for a reason. Unfortunately, it took us some time to figure out what that reason was. I was wondering if you would be willing to meet and talk about Brian. I have many unanswered questions and stories to share. Please respond to this post so that I can have some closure.

You don’t have to be perfect to be amazing ...
Brian, you were an AMAZING person.

I met Brian over a year ago and he held a special place in my heart for several reasons which started with him being my VERY FIRST admit on my new job at a rehab facility where he came after one of his surgeries.  We talked daily and our staff truly cared about him as well.  He was definitely one of our favorite guests!  Through all of his medical issues he tried to stay positive and once he released from us back home we stayed in contact every few weeks so we could chat and he could bring me up to date on his conditions.  So when I hadn't heard from him in awhile I tried calling to learn his phone was disconnected and unfortunately, I learned the worst.  One of the things he talked about repeatedly was that he was "ready" because he was simply existing and didn't have any quality of life.  So while I will truly truly miss him and our conversations, I am "happy" that he is out of pain and can be at peace.  He was a special person and will be greatly missed!

Dear family members ~especially you Kelly, my deepest sympathies and respect. Please find comfort in knowing that life and time is not simply the passing of moments. If the past did not still exist we would have no memory of any of it and the intelligent scientific mind would have never evolved. That is truly the most profoundly wonderful thing about the cosmos --that heaven can truly exist on this planet from it's past to the future which is where your brother is and wants you to be as happy as he is. We are all in the present time moving toward a barrier where things are going to change... I apologize if you find this inappropriate, but I know it to be true. Peace be with you all, Brian

I grew up in the Brookfield home next door to Brian's.  I got to know him over the past few years when I was over visiting my mom, who still lives there.  I got to speak with him a month or so before he died, after not seeing him for a year.  He told me then that he had been seriously ill and in the hospital.
We are saddened by his passing.  He was friendly, and I got to see his love of nature - animals and flowers.  I enjoyed talking to him whenever I had the chance to see him.  My deepest condolences to and prayers for his family.
