LaVerne Miller Obituary

LaVerne Miller (nee Bouska)      age 91            At Rest: March 2, 2018

LaVerne (Lovey) Emily Agnes Miller was born December 5,1926 in Chicago, Il to Frank C. Bouska and Johanna (Karafa) Bouska. She married Steward (Ben) Edward Miller on April 25, 1949. They moved to Forerst View, Il in 1954 where they raised two daughters. Steward and LaVerne moved to Joliet, Il in 1992.

Steward preceded LaVerne in death on Oct. 22,1999. LaVerne returned to Forerst View in 2016.

In her younger years, LaVerne, known as Lovey to family and friends, enjoyed cooking (Czech food a specialty), baking cookies, at Christmas making dozens upon dozens and decorating them to make a professional baker jealous. Music was always played in the Miller house, Sunday dedicated to Polka's. She loved to dance and taught her daughters to Polka. She especially loved traveling. She traveled to England & Canada and took numerous cruises throughout the Carribean. She also traveled extensively throughout the United States. She took several trips with her grandsons leaving them with wonderful memories of Disneyland, Gettysburg PA, Springfield IL and Riviera Maya Mexico. She liked to sew and was quite the seamtress creating outfits for friends and family. She especially enjoyed creating lavish Barbie Doll clothes for her daughters and nieces.

LaVerne's passion was her family. Always throwing parties with the help of her husband whether it be for birthdays, bridal showers or baby showers, LaVerne was always involved and added that special touch with her creativity for making crafts,  decorating and baking cookies. The tradition continued even after Ben's death.

She especially enjoyed her time with her two grandsons, Tanner and Shane. She never missed a baseball, soccer, football or basketball game they participated in from Grammar School throughout High School.

She is survived by her two daughters, Nancy L. Miller of Forest View, Cheryl Lapins and son-in-law Chris Lapins of Hastings MI. (formerly of Woodridge, IL) and grandsons Tanner Miller and Shane Miller of Forest View.

Sister to the late Agnes (James) Edison, the late Charles (Irene) Bouska and the late Richard (Betty) Bouska.

Aunt to Billie Anne Miller (Bill) Long, Jerry Miller, Susan (John) Wilson, Doug (Kathy) Edison, Sharon (John) Leary, Pam (Fred) Moldenhauer, Jackie (Mike) Vales and Brad (Sharon) Bouska, the late Warren (Carolyn) Edison, the late Jimmy Miller, late Chuck Bouska & the late Linda Bouska.   She was also a Great Aunt and Great-Great Aunt of many.

LaVerne will be remembered for her warm and welcoming smile, her generous hospitality to all and making anyone feel like family.

At the request of LaVerne Miller, her body was donated to the Anatomical Gift Assoc. of IL.

There will be a Memorial Mass at St. Pius X in Stickney, IL in May-date to be determined.
