Robert "Bobby" Garland
Bobby was born in Edgebrook, IL, where he spent his childhood. He attended college at Miami of Ohio for a few years before transferring to Bradley University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree. Always the athlete, he played in six softball leagues throughout his adulthood, but his passion was creating commercials and print advertising. He started at Hotpoint working in chalk and after a few agencies and technological upgrades he landed at J. Walter Thompson. Even though they had no job for him, they snuck him in as a Producer until an Art Director spot opened up. Over 20 years and many awards, he traveled far and wide and was mostly known for the Oscar Meyer commercial with the little boy on the pier. His wife, Linda, of 43 years will miss his big presence and sense of humor. Loving father of Kathy (John), Donna, Steve, Skylar and Cooper, the void will never be filled. Grandchildren Haley and Bradley will miss his stories and his newest granddaughter, Wren, will grow up hearing all about his unique personality and life lessons. Bobby's friends sent an outpouring of admiration and we thank them for their kind words and heartfelt memories. He passed away on 9/4/18 peacefully and painlessly.
