Esperanza Gomez Diaz de Leon, was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico on January 12, 1928. She fell asleep in death peacefully surrounded by her family on April 20, 2021. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Rafael, whom she married on February 19, 1955. Together they moved to Chicago where they raised a beautiful family that consisted of 7 children, Esperanza, Rafael, Jorge (Bertha), Armando (Carmen), Late Carlos (Cheryl) Gracie (Rick) and Sonia. Their family continued growing and they were blessed with 26 grandchildren 44 great granchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Many who knew her were witnesses of her great love for her family and her faith. She worked hard fulfilling her role as a mother, a faithful wife and a grandmother by showing much love and attention to each one. She had a great zeal for life and always made sure she looked good. Wearing earrings, her favorite lipstick and of course her Eterna 27 face cream was a must. She enjoyed spending time with all her family and friends. She loved cooking, sewing, music, dancing, and playing games. Her favorite were Old Maid and Chinese Checkers. She loved to win! She will be greatly missed by all until we see her again. Esperanza is now asleep in God's memory until the Resurrection "when death will be no more". Revelation 21:4. Until then she will forever live in our hearts.
