JoAnn Ancira

JoAnn “Joni” Ancira, 67, passed unexpectedly on Thursday, September 8, 2022, in
Illinois near most of her family. Born in Texas on August 17, 1955 to Ophelia Ancira née
Gonzales and Fidel Ancira Sr.
Joni lived life wild and carefree, a creative and talented artist she walked to the beat of
her own drum gathering friends and laughter wherever she went. She was unabashedly
herself, a hippy at heart with a flashy sense of style. A deeply caring person who loved
her family and friends endlessly; you could find JoAnn donned in rhinestones and hats
at any family party ready to engage anyone with questions on how their lives were
going, what music and movies they have recently been into and (if you were a fellow
creative) what you were working on. Joni moved to Chicago at a young age with her
parents and siblings and grew up with a love of music, art, roller-skating and going to
the beach.
JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents, Ophelia Ancira née Gonzales and Fidel
Ancira Sr, and her brother Conrad Ancira. Survived by 7 siblings : Fidel Ancira Jr,
Paulina Banks née Ancira, Victor Ancira, Merlinda Chavarria née Ancira, Betsy Ann
Pasquesi née Ancira, Flora Alvarez née Ancira, Delfina Vinaja née Ancira, inlaws, and
countless nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Service to be held Sunday, 9/18/2022 from 3pm-7pm held at:
