Manuel Garcia Obituary

Manny left us suddenly Monday morning, September 21, 2020. He was a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. He enjoyed listening to music and spending time with family and friends. When he wasn’t working, Manuel was known to play softball, bowling and to ride his bike around the neighborhood. He loved his mom’s cooking, especially “arroz amarillo con garbanzos and carnes en su juego”. He was a sweet and humble young man. We will forever remember his one of a kind smile.

“Manuel freestyle music was your way of communicating and expressing your feelings. Music has always been part of our family and so were sports.  Manny loved his sports, from watching the cubs fly W to the blackhawks winning the stanley cup. No matter what the occasion was he would always want to have family and friends enjoy the time he spent with them. Summer was your favorite season, as you turned older like MJ, your favorite number was 23. No doubt you were a great bowler because it was a family hobby, from playing with family leagues to  playing in a competitive league in high school. Your bike was your get away excuse to be with friends. We would see you going down the block on the Sawyer, hearing ‘Dboooo’ and we knew you were around. No matter how small or big the issues were he would always be positive  with his big great smile. One time someone asked, why are you always smiling, he said ‘because I want you to be happy just like me’. Manny would always be there for you and be a positive role model to everyone that followed him.”

Thank you for accompanying the Garcia family at this time. Please note the following family wishes:

  • Absolutely no pictures of Manuel will be allowed.
  • The head of the family, Marcela Garcia, recently suffered a stroke and the family kindly requests that you stay strong for her during the service. Please refrain from hugging as her heart is weak and requires special care at this moment.

Come with me

A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands at rest,
God broke our hearts to prove
He only takes the best.

You never said ‘I’m leaving’,
You never said goodbye,
You were gone before we knew it,
And only God knew why.

A million times we needed you,
A million times we cried,
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.

In life we loved you dearly,
In death we love you still,
In our hearts you hold a place,
That no one could ever fill.

It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you didn’t go alone,
For part of us went with you,
The day God took you home.
