Carol Kapelka (79) went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 24th peacefully in her home after a short illness.  She was born in Midlothian, Illinois and resided in Cicero, Illinois for more than 30 years. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She is survived by her brother Bill Gilbert, her five children Michael Ashley of Huntland, Tennessee; Mitchell Ashley of Panama City, Florida; Cheryl Miller of Scottsboro, Alabama; Michele Schwartz and her husband, Marc of Middleburg, Florida; and Russell Kapelka and his wife, Claudia of Cicero, Illinois; as well as her five grandchildren, Dawn Ashley, Amanda Lowe, Ashley Miller, Hunter Miller and Ashley Beauchamp, five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Carol loved her dog Kappie, watching her Chicago Cubbies, working in her garden, riding her bike, playing her slot machines and scratch off tickets and talking on the phone to her family and friends.

There will be a small memorial service for Carol on Saturday, September 30, at Heritage Funeral Home in Berwyn, Illinois from 1-3pm. Flowers, donations and condolences may be offered at 3117 S Oak Park, Ave. Berwyn, Illinois.
