Juan Antonio Gaitan born on January 2, 1947 went peacefully home to the Lord on October 22, 2019. Juan spent his childhood in Harlingen Texas. He moved to Chicago Illinois when he was a teenager. He attended Harrison High School where he met his wife Virginia. After graduation Juan enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served his country proudly during the Vietnam War. After serving his country, he was hired at ElectroMotive, married Virginia and raised a family. He was transferred to Allison Transmission in 1989 and has resided in Mooresville, Indiana for the past 30 years. Juan retired from General Motors after 38 years of employment. His hobbies included woodworking, fishing, watching the Indianapolis Colts and spending time with his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father and mother Ramon and Francisca Gaitan, daughter Cynthia Gaitan-Duranty, siblings Rosario Martinez, Esperanza Maldonado, Martin Gaitan, Jose Gaitan, George Gaitan and nephews Martin Gaitan, Raymond Alvarado and Martin Ramirez. Juan will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 48 years Virginia L. Gaitan, children Veronica Vazquez, Theresa (Frank) Gomez and Juan Antonio Gaitan II and grandchildren Eduardo Camarena Jr, Jocelyn Andrea Gomez, Mariah Monet Vazquez, Bianca Irene Gomez, Francisco Javier Gomez Jr, Mia Bella Vazquez, Maddison Gaitan and Isabella Gaitan. He will be forever remembered by his siblings, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, in-laws and friends. Friends and family are invited to share memories of Juan with his family during visitation at Heritage Funeral Home, 3117 S Oak Park, Berwyn, IL. Friday, October 25, 2019 between 3-8 PM and Saturday October 26 between 9 - 11 AM.
