Willis Hershel Fore, Jr. (“Buddy” as some called him) age 83, resident of Oak Park, IL for 47 years passed away to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ surrounded by his wife of 65 years Peggy Fore and his family. Willis was born on August 6, 1934 in Gastonia, N.C. to the late Willis Hershel Fore Sr. and the late Gladys (Fore) Flowers. His children are the late William Marshall Fore, Theresa (Jackie) Smith, Ellen (Gar) Powell, Daniel Fore, Gloria (Mike) Henley, Joy (Emil) Jirsa, and Holly (Josh) Dickey. He has 20 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. His siblings are the late Barbara (the late Bob) McGrath, Geraldine (the late Bob) Frazier, the late James (Josie) Fore, Clyde Fore, and Carolyn (the late James) Watson.
Willis served in the US Navy for 30 years(20 active-10 reserve) working his way up to Naval Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman(HMC E-7). He worked at West Suburban Medical Center in the surgery department as a Surgical Technician and then as Operations Analyst. He attended Moody Bible Institute Chicago IL studying Hebrew language and earned a Bachelor’s degree in biblical studies. He also attended Triton College studying Liberal Arts. He attended Emmanuel Bible Church for 41 years serving in many ways some of which were deacon, elder, Bible teacher, Pastor of Prayer, worked with the tape ministry of Faith Chapel and visited nursing homes giving communion and delivering devotionals such as Our Daily Bread. He played the harmonica and sang many solo’s in church over the years, also was an awesome whistler. He was a very talented wood worker and wood carver. He was a hard worker, devoted husband, dedicated father, grandfather, friend and brother in Christ. Last but not least but most important Willis was a faithful upstanding Christian man who served his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
