Aurora Detres

With extremely heavy hearts, we share the passing of Aurora “Ita” (Nicolas) Detres on March 2, 2025.

Beloved wife of the late Americo. Loving mother of the late Americo Jr., Bob (Cindy) Detres, Lisa (Terry) Spriggs and Rick (Nicole) Detres. Devoted grandmother of Madison, Alessandra, Michael, Aden, Nico, Olivia, Robert and Gabriella.

Aurora was the heart of the family, and nothing brought her more joy than being a grandmother. Her grandchildren were her world, and she looked forward to every moment spent with them. Her love and devotion will forever be a part of them.

One of Aurora’s greatest joys in life was her garden. She had a deep love for flowers, especially orchids. The delicate beauty and quiet strength of the orchid reflected her perfectly. The peace she found caring for her plants/flowers carried over to the care she gave to all those she loved.

Beyond her love for flowers, Aurora also had a passion for coloring. She would carefully select the right shades making sure every page was perfect. In her own way, she made our world a more colorful and beautiful place.

She will truly be missed by all that knew her.

Visitation on Sunday March 9, from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home 3117 S. Oak Park Avenue, Berwyn.  Funeral Service on Monday March 10, 2025, at the funeral home 10:00 a.m.   Entombment, Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Christ the King Mausoleum.
