It is with deep sadness and profound love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, who left this world peacefully on January 22, 2026.
Bernadette Sakowski, 92, of Stickney, IL, was called to paradise and is safely home with Our Lord. Dearest daughter of the late Stanley and Anna Bafia, beloved sister of the late Stanley and Ann Bafia, the late Walter and Wanda Bafia, and the late Edward and Albina Bafia. Loving mother of daughter Rosanne and Eugene Parsill, her late son Phillip Sakowski, and daughter Leonora Sakowski and Catherine Bucaro. Loving aunt, cousin, and friend to many, including those dear members of her parish, St. Leonard.
She was a woman of extraordinary faith, warmth, and kindness. Her faith guided every day in prayer and joy. Someone who gave endlessly and loved without hesitation. She devoted her life to her family, nurturing those around her with a generous heart and a spirit that lifted others, even in difficult times. Her laughter filled our home, her wisdom guided us, and her love shaped us into who we are today.
We will forever carry her memory in our hearts. Though we mourn her loss, we celebrate the beautiful life she lived, and the legacy of compassion and love she leaves behind. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her light will continue to shine in every life she touched.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at our Parish, St. Leonard Church, in the near future. More information to follow.
