In Loving Memory of Carlos Enrique Arana, October 18, 1947 – April 7, 2025 Carlos Enrique Arana, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on April 7, 2025, surrounded by love and family. Born in Guatemala on October 18, 1947, Carlos carried with him the rich spirit of his heritage and lived a life full of passion, creativity, and heart.
Carlos is survived by his children: Tim, Todd, Carlos Sabu, and Sean Kadir. His legacy continues through his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom carry a piece of his wisdom, his laughter, and his unshakable spirit.
Carlos was a free soul—unapologetically himself and fiercely unique. He marched to the beat of his own drum, often surprising those around him with his unconventional insights, unwavering convictions, and deep perspectives on life. He had a way of seeing the world not just as it was, but as it could be—and he inspired others to do the same.
Those who knew Carlos will remember his boundless energy, his deep moral compass, and his ability to form friendships that stood the test of time. He was deeply connected to nature, turning his home into a sanctuary for plants and animals alike—his own unofficial greenhouse and zoo. Carlos had a heart big enough to care for all living things and the hands to craft beauty from wood and canvas. His love for carpentry and painting brought art into everyday life, transforming ordinary spaces into soulful expressions of his vision.
A devoted husband, Carlos’s heart was never the same after the recent passing of his beloved wife. Though the family mourns the end of an era, we find comfort in knowing they are now reunited, resting together in peace. Their love, values, and legacy live on in all of us.
A celebration of Carlos’s life will be held on April 19th from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home 3117 S. Oak Park Avenue in Berwyn, IL. A religious ceremony will take place at 2:00 PM.
Carlos Enrique Arana lived a full, colorful life—and he encouraged all those around him to do the same. So the next time you hear Creedence Clearwater Revival playing on a radio, take a deep breath, smile, and remember to celebrate life—because that’s exactly what Carlos would want.
