Carole Ann Collins

Carole Ann Collins (nee Downs), resident of Indian Head Park, a devoted mother, Nonnie, sister, aunt, and friend to all, at rest April 4, 2026. Born on June 20, 1946 in Oak Park, Illinois to Frank and Rosemary Downs.  She was the only daughter in her family, and was loved by all who knew her.   Carole graduated Oak Park River Forest High School in 1964. Upon graduation, she accepted a position as a nurse’s assistant at Catholic Charities in Chicago. She cared for and nursed new mothers and babies with her confident, friendly, and kind personality.  She successfully raised two children while working multiple jobs, and completing her undergraduate degree and MBA at Dominican University. Carole worked as an IT Project Management Professional until her retirement. She loved her family and friends immensely, was a devoted mother to her children, and loved her role as a Nonnie to her two grandchildren.  Carole loved to travel, and was an avid reader.  She was never so happy as when she could be the host of wonderful gatherings at her home for family and friends.  She was extremely social and loved being around people, as she made friends very easy.

Carole is survived by her son Michael (Amanda) Collins, daughter Shannon Collins, her cherished grandchildren Quinn Collins, and Maeve Collins; and her brother Bob Downs, and many adored nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Rosemary Downs, brothers John Downs, and Rich Downs.

Memorial Visitation on Saturday April 25, 2026 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church 8404 S. Cass Avenue Darien IL 60561 (630-852-3303).  Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m.
