Eugene Pellegrini, age 95, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at The Scottish Home in
North Riverside, Illinois. Eugene was born on July 31, 1926, in Chicago, a son of Italian
immigrants. He married his wife Sandy, in 1948. Eugene graduated from IIT in 1952 with a B.Sc. in
chemical engineering. He spent most of his working life in his business designing water and
wastewater systems, including the food and beverage industry for Illinois and surrounding states.
In 2014 Eugene received the Gold Drop Award from the American Water Works Association for 50
years of membership. Eugene loved music. He sang in church choirs and the Swedish Glee Club.
He joined Toastmasters to better his speaking skills and, in turn, mentored adults to increase
their self-confidence and procure better jobs. Eugene and Sandy had four children and fostered
several others. Eugene will be remembered by family and friends as a person who tried to help
everyone and was always willing to try something new. Eugene is survived by his wife Alexandra,
daughter Marcelia/husband Paul Brittain, son George/wife Beatrice, daughter Rebecca/husband
David Bartel, son Kenneth/wife Rosemarie, three granddaughters Alanna, Rachael, Alexandra,
four great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. Eugene was preceded in death
by his parents and his brother George. A private interment service will be held at Saint Paul’s
Episcopal Church, 60 Akenside Road, Riverside, IL. A memorial gathering will be announced later.
