George Lane Obituary

George William Lane, 50, died peacefully in his Oak Park home, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Born April 24, 1974, George was known by all as a constant lover of animals, a diligent worker, a loving father, and a friend to all those he met. He had a deep and abiding passion for cars, an interest he shared with many in his life, that he expressed both in his hunt for gorgeous classic automotives as well as the model car replicas that he built in his spare time. He had an incredible work ethic and began working tirelessly from a young age in the pursuit of stability for his loved ones. Truly a self-made man, he focused his energies on building security for his loving wife and three beautiful children, who were the apple of his eye. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandfather, Elmer Lane, and his father in law Eric Smith. He is survived by his wife Molly, his children Sean, Jack, and Shannon, his mother in law Betty Smith, his brother in law Charlie Smith, and his sister in law Shanel Jackson. Private memorial services for family and friends will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in George’s name to the American Cancer Society.
