Gloria “Micki” Deddo, 90, died peacefully at home on June 24, 2025. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Louis Armidano; her children Mark (Brenda) Wiederhold; Toni (Derrick) Saunders; Eve (Jim) Gayley; Gina Wied; her grand-daughter, Diane; her brother Roger (Carol) Deddo; and many nieces and nephews and their children. Born on July 8, 1934, Micki lived in Oak Park, IL for decades, but her heart remained where she was born and grew up, on Chicago’s south side. She was a strong person, determined to make a life for her family as the main provider for four children. She worked as a server for 40 years at Pizzeria Due, turning a service profession into an art. Her customers loved her for the care she gave them and because she was fun to be around. Her daughters worked with her at the restaurant while they went to college. Micki loved to laugh and keep things light. She looked at the world with a clear-eyed gaze and rejected the sentimental, except when it came to Lou. She was also generous and kind—the world’s best sandwich maker and gift giver. She enjoyed reading, watching old movies, talking about politics, and making elaborate dinners for the family. Micki kept her sharp and independent spirit until the end. Louis misses his sweetheart, the love of his life, and his best friend, Micki Deddo.
