Jeffrey Lee Tatge

Jeffrey Lee Tatge, 67, died peacefully, his siblings at his bedside, at 4:20 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21 at Glen Oaks Hospital in Glendale Heights, IL. Jeffrey was born Oct. 2, 1955, in Elkhorn, WI, the first of three sons born to James M. Tatge and Joe Ann (Russo) Durka. He later gained a stepfather Lenny Durka and a stepmother Barbara Tatge. He graduated from Central High School in Paddock Lake, WI, and enlisted in the US Army on Nov. 29,1976. He earned the designation of sharpshooter and served in Germany before being discharged on Sept. 8, 1977. In his earlier years, Jeff was into race cars and boats. Fixing them up and selling them. His pride and joy being his 1970 Roadrunner. He loved going to auto shows. He was an avid Beatles fan, and oftentimes played their music. Jeff had a very close connection with his Lord and Savior and kept a small study bible by his side, always. He was very devoted and walked to church every Sunday. His love for God and his family was evident, especially his niece Taylor. Before becoming unable to care for himself, Jeff lived with and helped care for his mother, Joe Ann, doing cooking and cleaning. He made the best Pot Roast one can imagine. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather; and brother, Jay Tatge. He is survived by his stepmother; brother Jarrett Tatge; sister Jill (Mike) Rozell; nieces Taylor (Brad) Tatge and Rachael (Jordan) Vail; and nephews Michael (Hannah) Rozell and Ryan Rozell. Services will be held from 9:00am to 11:00am at Heritage Funeral Home, located at 3117 South Oak Park Avenue, Berwyn, IL. 60402. Jeff’s final resting place will be in Ridgewood Memorial Park, located at 9900 N. Milwaukee Avenue, DesPlaines, IL. 60016. The interment will be private.
