Josefina Gonzalez

On Monday, August 24th, 2020, loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother, Josefina Gonzalez, died at the age of 73.  Josefina was born on March 19th, 1947 in Jalisco, Mexico to Julian and Maria Refugio Arellano. 

Josefina married her husband, Jose Guadalupe Gonzalez, at the age of 19 on December 29th, 1965.  She graciously and selflessly raised 7 children: Maria, Luz, Delia, Jose, Efrain, Martha, and Elvia.  The unconditional love Josefina had for her family carried them through many difficult times.  The first of her 18 grandchildren is Sabas, followed by Jose, Michael, Samantha (great granddaughter, Melanie), Melissa, Olivia, Alex, Luis, Julian, Brianna, Julius, Gianna, Jocelyn, Jazmin, Ciara, Gavin, Angelina, and Byron.  

Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren, laughing, and enjoying a meal together.  The family cherished her warm soft hugs and her beautiful eyes and smile.  She was a devoted Catholic who faithfully prayed for her family.  Josefina was a talented seamstress and an amazing cook. She loved the beauty of nature, including plants, flowers, and animals. 

Josefina is preceded in death by her parents, and her son, Jose.  She is survived by her husband, Jose, six children, and grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Monday August 31, 2020 at St. Leonard’s Catholic Church at 3318 Clarence Ave Berwyn, IL 60402 at 10am. A viewing of Josefina will be held beginning at 9am at the church.
