Karen Darlena Hart

HART, KAREN D. – Karen Darlena (nee Toombs) Hart, age 79, of Berwyn, passed away on October 22, 2020, at home. She was born Jan 30, 1941, in Dallas County, Texas, to the late Thomas “Bud” and the late Frances (nee Pool) Toombs. She met her devoted husband, Arthur J Hart, who survives, when he was in the Coast Guard stationed in Galveston, Texas.  They wed there on June 7, 1958 and were married 62 years. Even after moving to the Chicago-area in the early 1960s, Karen never lost her Texas twang or her love of the Lone Star State. Beloved mother of Darla (Richard) Barrett, Arthur II, Paul (Deborah) and Lori (Hugh) O’Malley. Dearest Nana of Holly (Pablo) Sosa; Victoria, Daniel and Stephanie; Nathan (Lindsey) and Samuel (Brittany); and Margaret (fiancé Cory Jirak), Sarah and Hugh O’Malley. Great-grandmother of Baby Hart on the way. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Charles Toombs, in 1982. In retirement, Karen loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren, taking them on little adventures and spoiling them to no end. She will be deeply missed by her family. Before retiring, Karen worked as unit secretary at Mac Neal Hospital and was a docent at Brookfield Zoo. She was a parishioner of St Leonard’s Catholic Church, Berwyn. A funeral Mass will be held 11:00 AM, October 26, at St Leonard’s Catholic Church. Interment at Queen of Heaven cemetery will be private at a later date.
