​It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved La Shawn Jeanice’ Skeete, who departed this life on August 24, 2026, at the age of 39.

​La Shawn was a cherished daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. Her life was a precious gift to all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Her presence brought warmth, joy, laughter, and love into the lives of those around her, leaving behind countless beautiful memories that will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.

​La Shawn was full of joy and laughter. She had a playful spirit and loved playing pranks on the people who knew her best. Her sense of humor and ability to bring laughter into any room were among the many qualities that made her so special and unforgettable. She was also a deeply self-motivated, determined, and ambitious woman who had many goals and dreams for her life. Her determination, intelligence, strength, and commitment to building a meaningful life were truly inspiring to those who knew and loved her.

​La Shawn’s love of learning was evident throughout her life. She attended Glenarden Woods Elementary School, where she received the President Clinton Education Award in 1999, and Walker Mill Middle School, where she received the President Bush Education Award in 2001. She went on to attend Oxon Hill High School in the Talented and Gifted Program. La Shawn continued her education at Prince George’s Community College, earning her Associate degree in Chemistry, and later earned her Bachelor’s degree in Economics with a minor in German from the University of Maryland.

​Professionally, La Shawn served as a Data Operations Manager for Fors Marsh Group, LLC. She was dedicated to learning, growing, and sharing her knowledge with others. She spoke both Spanish and German and had a genuine curiosity about the world around her. Outside of her career, she enjoyed playing classical piano, was an avid reader, loved to travel and explore different cultures, and appreciated discovering new foods.
​This world is not the same without La Shawn’s warm, wonderfully loving spirit. Her absence leaves a space that can never be filled, but the love she shared and the memories she created will remain with us forever.

​La Shawn is lovingly remembered by her parents, Michael Skeete and Antoinette Benoit; her grandmothers, Lenore Benoit and Ullie Skeete; her brother, Mike Skeete; sisters-in-law, Ashley Skeete and Victoria Batts; her nieces, Margeaux Skeete, Victoria Skeete, and Angel Rose Skeete; her aunts, Deborah Skeete, Charon Skeete, and Chamion Skeete; her uncles, Wrene Benoit, Anthony Benoit, Emry Benoit, Anthony Skeete, and Sean Skeete; her cousins, Ashley Benoit, Renae Benoit, Dewayne Ector, Valda Benoit, and Alisha Williams; as well as her extended family members and many dear friends.
​She was preceded in death by her cherished brother, Le Var Skeete; her grandfathers, Guy Benoit and Andrew Skeete; her uncle, Allan Nunes; and her cousin, Jerome Benoit.

​Though our hearts are broken by La Shawn’s passing, we are deeply grateful for the years we were blessed to share with her—the laughter, the conversations, the adventures, the lessons, and the love. We will carry her memory with us wherever we go, speak her name with love, and hold close every precious moment we were blessed to share.
