On Friday April 11th, Michael Einar Sundstrom, loving husband, father, son, brother, and
uncle passed away unexpectedly at the age of 54. He was surrounded by family and
friends who filled the room with love, as he had so fiercely given them.
Michael was born in June 1970, in Chicago, IL. He was the son of proud parents Einar
and Sharon, and the beloved brother of Barbara (Jon) Ramp, Veronica O’Brenski,
David, and Elizabeth (Ross) Wheeler.
A dedicated family man, Michael worked for his father’s company Cashco and most
recently alongside his brother at Audit Recovery. As an uncle and father figure to all
who needed one, Michael was a constant, loving presence—offering guidance, support,
and unconditional love that helped shape the lives of the next generation.
His greatest devotion, however, was to his wife of 12 years, Theresa. They shared 20
years of love built on laughter, resilience, and an endless understanding of one another.
They took turns nurturing each other through life’s highs and lows, always finding their
way back to joy.
Having watched his mother take on friends’ children as her own, Michael did the same
with Theresa’s daughters Gabriella and Kiley, his nephews and nieces, neighbors and
the children within his community.
His strength and giving nature live on with his legacy as Michael had made the selfless
choice to become an organ donor; ensuring that even in his passing, he continues to
help others in need.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Alec James Ramp. He is
survived by his wife, Theresa, his daughter Gabriella, his siblings, as well as his nieces
and nephews: Nathan (Cassandra) and Rachel Ramp, Alyssa, Miranda, Aidan and
Karina O’Brenski, Ryan, Audrey, and Claire Wheeler, Eric and Amy Sundstrom, along
with countless friends and extended family within the communities that he created and
supported.
A celebration of Michael’s life will be held on Saturday, April 26 at Westchester Bible
Church, 10600 Cermak Road, Westchester. We will gather at 10am for a visitation in
the church auditorium, service will begin at 11am with a luncheon to follow in the
