July 21, 1951 ~ December 1, 2023 (age 72) 72 Years Old
Michael James Woodward, 72, of Berwyn, passed away peacefully at home at 9:56 PM on Friday, December 1, 2023. Michael was born on July 21, 1951, in Chicago to the late Richard and Angela (nee Couture) Woodward. He was a survivor of the Our Lady of the Angels School fire in 1958. Michael graduated from Gordon Tech High School in Chicago, St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer, IN, and John Marshall Law School in Chicago. A long-time Berwyn resident, Michael dedicated much of his life to public service, serving as a former Berwyn Alderman, City Clerk, and City Attorney. Michael was confirmed by the Illinois State Senate to serve on the Board of Illinois Department of Employment Security. He recently retired as a Land Acquisition Manager with the Illinois State Tollway Authority. He is survived by his daughter Jaime (David) Henneman, his son Joseph Woodward, Sharon Moran, his sisters Joan Riley and Nancy Woodward (Vince Nadjowski), his grandson Nicholas Henneman, his niece Renee (Scott) Webb, his nephew Daniel Riley, and his great-niece Natalie Webb. He was preceded in death by his parents, his aunt Therese “Aunt Babe” Woodward, and his brother-in-law George “Buck” Riley. A celebration of life will be arranged at a later date.
