It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard “Richie” Romo, of Chicago, Illinois, at the age of 63. Richie passed away on March 23, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.  Richie was the beloved husband of the late Rita Chavez and the devoted son of the late Virginia Romo. He was a proud father to the late Alfonso “Poncho” Romo and leaves behind his loving children, Richard “Gordo” (Nina), Loretta “Dingie” (Vince), and Maria (Robert). Richie was also a proud and loving grandfather to 13 grandchildren, who brought him great joy. His warmth and generosity of spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. Richie will also be fondly remembered as a caring brother to three sisters, a cherished uncle to many, and a dear friend to all who had the privilege of his company.

Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of Richie’s life and to offer their condolences at Heritage Funeral Home and Cremation, 3114 Oak Park, Berwyn, IL, on Friday, April 4th, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral service and Mass will be held on Saturday, April 5th, at 11:30 am at Our Lady of Tepeyac Parish, located at Cermak and Whipple. Richie will be greatly missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. May he rest in peace.  

 Services will conclude at the church, cremation private.
