Rickey Coffie

Rickey Lewis Coffie was born on July 16, 1958, in New Madrid, Missouri, to Onnie Mae Coffie. When Rickey was eight years old, his family moved to the West Side of Chicago, near Flournoy Street and Pulaski Road. He attended Sumner Elementary School. At an early age, Rickey confessed his faith and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. He enjoyed attending church, hearing the Word of God, and growing in his faith. Rickey was a loving, kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends. He was extremely generous and would gladly give someone his last dime or dollar.  Rickey enjoyed singing, dancing, and playing basketball. He was also a champion card player, especially when playing Spades and Deuces Wild. His family often joked that no one could beat him. When it came to shooting pool, Rickey was the best of the best. He was definitely a champion, and that competitive spirit brought him great joy.  Some of Rickey’s favorite foods were greens with ham hocks, sweet potatoes, fried chicken, and chicken and dressing. His favorite meals were lovingly prepared for him on his birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other special occasions.  

A loving and generous heart Rickey’s kindness and love for others will always be remembered.  Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. We find peace in knowing that you are now resting with your Heavenly Father, free from all suffering and pain. We love you and will always carry you in our hearts. You will never be forgotten.  Rest peacefully, Rickey. Amen.
