Anyone who knew Shirley knew of her incredible strength and heart, despite experiencing more than a life's worth of loss and tragedy. Through it all, she showed unmatched resilience, grit, and kindness. She put herself through school whilst simultaneously providing for her family, and built herself up to a long-lasting career at the Joint Commission where she excelled time and time again. She built strong and beautiful relationships with anyone who crossed her path, professionally and personally. Her commitment to helping others extended past this all as she continuously donated to organizations such as St. Jude's Children's Hospital, The Greater Chicago Food Depository, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Shirley was also known for being an unrivaled cook, in which her family will continue to make at family gatherings but know that they will never quite taste the same. Shirley leaves behind a legacy of love and a strong sense of perseverance that will continue to inspire everyone she met. In her memory, her family would be honored if one would like to donate in her name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
