Thomas Alan Blecha, 62 of Valparaiso, IN, formerly of Plainfield, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 6, 2023. He was born on April 22, 1961, in Chicago, IL to Robert and Betty (Gregor) Blecha. Tom graduated from Morton West High School in Berwyn, IL where he was a talented quarterback. He proudly began his career as a Firefighter and Paramedic with the Oak Park Fire Department in March of 1988, was promoted to Lieutenant in March of 2006 and retired from the department in March of 2015. Tom enjoyed playing softball throughout his youth and into early adulthood. In retirement, he was fond of classic cars, tending to his lawn, trees, and flowers, going to the gym, and spending time with his dogs. Tom loved his family more than anything and put them above all else. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband and father who will be dearly missed. On April 27, 1991, in Lisle, IL, Tom married the love of his life, Tracy Clay, who survives, along with their children: Michael Blecha of Denver, CO and Mackenzie Blecha of Lisle, IL; his mother, Betty Blecha of Romeoville, IL; brother, Rob (Donna) Blecha; sister, Jill Gregor; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Blecha.
